Coppersmithing is a craft typical of the Pirin region. In the 19th century copperware was widely used on a day-to-day basis at home, as well as in professions such as sheep breeding, traditional clothing making, and painting. The craft gains an economic significance and shapes its artistic appearance after the region’s liberation in 1912 when copper craftsmen from Prilep, Kukush, and Shtip moved in and brought with them skillful experience and aesthetic visions. The wide and long-lasting use of copper makes them an inseparable part of the home, and mostly the kitchen. This is why copperware is a favored choice for a bridal gift.
